Easter Tablescape

My son really "got" the Easter Bunny and egg hunting this year, which made the holiday so much fun.  I think we did no less than 4 egg hunts this month!

Ready for a big time fighting off the older kids!

It was a crazy hot day!

After some egg hunting, I hosted an Easter dinner.  I started off with a light blue tablecloth I newly acquired the night before Easter.  Of course, I waited until that night to set the table and the cloth was too small...

Plan B!  Which was hunt through my things and come up with a fun table out of what I already have.  I love a challenge!

This runner matches the drapes I had in the dining room (since this post, I have completely redone my dining room).

I found these floral arrangement in my basement leftover from a baby shower I threw.  These kick started my color palette for the rest of the table.

The cute little bunnies came from Target.  They looked so much like the Pottery Barn ones I had to have them!

I picked some plastic eggs in my colors of choice out of the basket and sprinkled them down the table.

A perched a couple eggs inside some Kate Spade demitasse cups.  Aren't they just the most adorable little cups you've ever seen?

The placemats are our regular everyday placemats.  I love the material and the fact that they go with anything.

The metal plates are from the Pottery Barn outdoor collection.  I have them in white, red, yellow, green, and blue.  For this meal, I used the large white ones as chargers and the red and yellow dinner plates for, well, dinner!

The linens were a gift from my Mom and the napkin rings are from Target.

Here we are right after church.  Squinting in the sun.  Sweating through our Sunday best.  Have I mentioned how hot Atlanta is?

After a delicious meal (pork roast with homemade gravy, asparagus, potatoes, salad, and strawberry cake), we dyed some eggs.

I hope my son has fond holiday memories from childhood.  I sure do!

From Drab to Fab - A Lamp Makeover

I've been drooling over some of the lamps in the latest Pottery Barn catalogue.  However, I'm not prepared to frop $350 on a lamp.  Not is my Mister.  Do I let that stop me from bringing the look home for less?  Never!

See that little beauty?  Well.  She started from very humble beginnings.  Shhh!  Don't tell her she's not a Pottery Barn lamp...she doesn't know.  Here's what I scooped up at Goodwill (actually, I took home 2...plans for the 2nd are in the works).

Not a terrible color, but definitely not the look I was going for.  After a few plastic bags, a can of Krylon looking glass paint, and a sweet shade from HomeGoods, we were in business!

I have a can of brushed metallic showing, but I didn't wind up using it.  I thought I would for the base, but the looking glass paint worked just fine.

Cover all the hardware with bags.

Spray away!  Use very thin, even coats.  It will drip and run if it gets too heavy.  I did 2-3 coats.

Can we say love?!  I just can't get over how this turned out.  Now every 2 weeks when the newest PB catalogue comes I smile to myself...then I tell whoever is sitting next to me!  Why pay crazy amounts when you can rescue a relic from Goodwill?!

Have you spray painted anything lately?  Please share!
