Hi Ho! Hope everyone is having a great week. We are gearing up for Halloween and the many parties, activities, gatherings we have approaching. Today I thought I'd take a break from fall and share a little summer project we did.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During my summer break I failed to share some DIY curtains with you. I got really tired of staring at naked windows (gasp!) so while perusing Hobby Lobby one day, I stumbled upon a fabric I absolutely love. It's all my fav colors in a chevron. To. Die. For.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So...I made some curtains! I use the word 'made' in the loosest fashion as I am no seamstress. In fact, no needle was brought to this fabric. I used heat bond and it works great. I highly recommend. I consider myself pretty good in all thing home related, but I did not get the sewing gene from my fabulous seamstress of a mom...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
However, now that I've put this little dresser on this wall (which I love for storage purposes), they are too big. The curtain is trying to suffocate the dresser, the dresser is letting angry words fly. It's becoming a scene. So, in the effort of keeping things around her G rated, I think these bad boys will be moving up to my new studio/office.<br />

I haven't shared this room with you yet, but I can't wait. It is everything I love. Maybe too much so, but I don't care! It's my fun room and these drapes will fit right in. And hopefully not start any fights...</div>

So there's how we lived all summer...but you know me. Nothing stays put for too long!<br />

<br />
<br />
These cute little stools were on clearance at Target this summer and I scooped them up for future playroom/family office use, but I'm loving them in the kitchen for right now. Perfect for playdate lunches.<br />
<br />
Any switcheroos at your house lately?<br />

<br />
The haunted holiday is fast approaching and Little and I have been crafting it up to decorate for the occasion. Michaels is kicking it with some amazing craft kits this season. They include everything you need to make a cute craft and they're super affordable. Win win!!<br />
<br />
We started with these super cute bat and spider friends. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0JsStGENAI_IJhh54AKHJ0UHLvoJ4seof227QyjnfPBe47rHAVKl7uRIIGTP20sC4EaPKTzX-fyZdxS-IonMJi7Z9ke7Hyvs5cwbLsXh9qD69PthMXVDzTEBmFNvEP6GV0W6FWpu_gw/s1600/DSC06106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0JsStGENAI_IJhh54AKHJ0UHLvoJ4seof227QyjnfPBe47rHAVKl7uRIIGTP20sC4EaPKTzX-fyZdxS-IonMJi7Z9ke7Hyvs5cwbLsXh9qD69PthMXVDzTEBmFNvEP6GV0W6FWpu_gw/s640/DSC06106.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We had a big debate over whether or not the bat was really an owl. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiekv16zy3Kk0MWxITjIMVkzamUJp2V5l7IxeaArzP1sn6JnHqtLroFFcPVcnZEDkvWc6Awdx_1rV0fD1lXl5zt0YyKgLSmvfm9umC0ylNoQDQZFS9QCrjuhFeZPl3XN018BdjpXWZhFA/s1600/DSC06107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiekv16zy3Kk0MWxITjIMVkzamUJp2V5l7IxeaArzP1sn6JnHqtLroFFcPVcnZEDkvWc6Awdx_1rV0fD1lXl5zt0YyKgLSmvfm9umC0ylNoQDQZFS9QCrjuhFeZPl3XN018BdjpXWZhFA/s640/DSC06107.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Little thinks it is definitely an owl, although the packaging clearly states 'bat'. He is convinced they made a mistake. I'll let you decide for yourself!<br />

You know I love fall and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to share how we've brought the season inside. Today's post is brought to you by the letter "R". Three "R's" to be exact. Restyle, Rework, Reinvent.<br />
<br />
Last year I went with a rustic glam look with gold and silver pumpkins and pine cones. You can check that out <a href="http://www.nestyourbest.blogspot.com/2012/09/fall-table.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4gtxs63h0YylVwFPzqI-BLlhZ84CG405BsJdq6L-5pbEJwzMm7ZL7Fv-BkH4eM3ol6RlWjV6rf482WGNJOAv7oHv_tv2MEcoLskNBbGWxLOxwrxFJ7WZi3nCMzr9Gmsr5Hmv7uv83pQ/s1600/DSC06018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4gtxs63h0YylVwFPzqI-BLlhZ84CG405BsJdq6L-5pbEJwzMm7ZL7Fv-BkH4eM3ol6RlWjV6rf482WGNJOAv7oHv_tv2MEcoLskNBbGWxLOxwrxFJ7WZi3nCMzr9Gmsr5Hmv7uv83pQ/s640/DSC06018.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I followed the same color pallet this year, but reworked some of my vignettes to keep it fresh. I'm a firm believer in using what you have and making it feel fresh. Mister had some extensive work done to his car recently so new decor just wasn't in the budget. Does that mean we sit around and let everyone else have all the fun? No way! Restyle, rework, reinvent!<br />
<br />
My favorite way to start any new decorating project is to take everything I have to work with and put it all on one table. Then, I "shop" from there. It's pretty fun and I always come up with a new way to use things I already had.<br />
<br />
Here's a look at our fall entry...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZM1C093wXmu4E06MF7R9OIBDnBllnVhdHeMRezUaMKRg1VV2OQHbeoAeyfOsmOyxG7Tm36s5NeB1F9QRzklUBozMdU2310HXixEcCpblNHj_VgbeuFvMaPDJ6zt2Y7N5PkLRVA7t8hA/s1600/DSC06015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZM1C093wXmu4E06MF7R9OIBDnBllnVhdHeMRezUaMKRg1VV2OQHbeoAeyfOsmOyxG7Tm36s5NeB1F9QRzklUBozMdU2310HXixEcCpblNHj_VgbeuFvMaPDJ6zt2Y7N5PkLRVA7t8hA/s320/DSC06015.JPG" width="212" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSlbnCyp5edOLVbor4LgGP57c1nFFtHna1LHtGAJgzlMa0ezpeExbfjTENCYNPYXCqY1qYDNX3vmpwIqA3cFi-y4CfUnadmq6RPUZIOPh5uzXuCFm-udt4S4OSy3sjvd9oohrV7geerw/s1600/DSC06013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSlbnCyp5edOLVbor4LgGP57c1nFFtHna1LHtGAJgzlMa0ezpeExbfjTENCYNPYXCqY1qYDNX3vmpwIqA3cFi-y4CfUnadmq6RPUZIOPh5uzXuCFm-udt4S4OSy3sjvd9oohrV7geerw/s320/DSC06013.JPG" width="212" /></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY6qLndjvkkiMjVLLslSzcrTBsAw1wTU53-KGOQ3RBen180iz8VaB-C9Iw9IMdE6aSzAS6JiDlgmqSJt2dEv8Dj54-LKTKAChKYTAfXJx8Y7ce578MjCA1hIAQLqNFocp18tmfxOke4Q/s1600/DSC06014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY6qLndjvkkiMjVLLslSzcrTBsAw1wTU53-KGOQ3RBen180iz8VaB-C9Iw9IMdE6aSzAS6JiDlgmqSJt2dEv8Dj54-LKTKAChKYTAfXJx8Y7ce578MjCA1hIAQLqNFocp18tmfxOke4Q/s640/DSC06014.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
It really just makes me smile every time I pass by. And isn't that what decorating is all about?<br />
<br />
Our dining room is very visible when you enter our home so it also got a little pumpkiny glam. I just love the way the tray corrals the big pumpkins.<br />

So there you have it. Not a dime spent, but a whole new look from last year.<br />
<br />
Are you restyling this year or making a few stops around town for new decor?<br />

His are more out of necessity than being on trend. He grew a good 4 inches since the end of spring...Mini Mister?<br />
<br />
This year, I got most of his clothes from Gymboree. Boy do they know 4 year old little boys. Little is into all things bugs, dinos, and space right now and Gymboree knew it...<br />
<br />
Since I am still a girl and new to this whole bug thing, I shied away from these items, but brought home some adorable space and prehistoric finds.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Pteranodon Double Sleeve Tee" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113171?$PRODMAIN$" /><img alt="Big Dino Double Sleeve Tee" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113166?$PRODMAIN$" /><br />
<img alt="Brontosaurus Tee" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113165?$PRODMAIN$" /> <img alt="Dino Stripe Double Sleeve Henley Tee" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113175?$PRODMAIN$" /><br />
These shirts were right up his alley...and they had some adorable little shoes to coordinate. Hey, I have to take advantage of getting to dress him while I still can!<br />
<br />
<img alt="Dino Laceless Sneaker" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113758?$PRODMAIN$" /><br />
<br />
Today we actually had our first rainy day since acquiring these and you'd better believe they went to preschool!<br />
<br />
<img alt="Spaceships Rainboot" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140113697?$PRODMAIN$" /><br />
How cute are these?!?<br />
<br />
<br />
And for cooler weather...<br />
<br />
<img alt="Planet Fleece Hoodie" src="http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140112501?$PRODMAIN$" /><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also picked up a few staples at Target. They have great clothes for little kids. I do have to say though, I am less than enthused with the bigger boy selection. My son is tall, but still young. I'd rather not cover him in Tony Hawk gear and anime characters. Just me?<br />
<br />
Carter's had a few shirts that passed my exacting standards. Hee hee. I'm kind of picky when it comes to what goes on my child. I thought this was cute, not to mention, accurate!<br />
<br />
<img alt=", Ivory, hi-res" src="http://demandware.edgesuite.net/sits_pod22/dw/image/v2/AAMK_PRD/on/demandware.static/Sites-Carters-Site/Sites-carters_master_catalog/default/v1380105749437/hi-res/243A806_Default.jpg?sw=192&sh=192" /><br />
<br />
For bottoms, we go for GapKids jeans. They hold up really well and come in great washes. We usually need at least 3 pairs as this is usually what we wear all week. We do have some track pants and khakis for play time/dressy. I try not to go too crazy as he'll outgrow it all next week! ;)<br />
<br />
What are your kiddos wearing? Do you let them pick their clothes out yet? Little has started too. He's doe a pretty good job, but if he had his way, he'd wear basketball shorts every. single. day. of. life. Love that boy.<br />

I know, I know. I said I was back...and then I wasn't. I underestimated getting back into the swing of school, and baseball, and home life, etc. I've been taking things slowly, not rushing into a million projects and I love it! I see other blogs I love whipping out all sorts of cute new material, which used to make me feel panicked, but now, it's my pace. It may be too slow for some of you, and I apologize for that. I'm just trying to keep a good balance these days and so far so good!<br />
<br />
All that being said, it is now my favorite season and we can't jump into fall without first talking about what we are going to be wearing. I'm seeing a lot of leopard, stripes, plaids, navy, and preppy/traditional looks out there. All things I am on board with!<br />
<br />
Here's what I'll be wearing:
<br />
<br />
<img alt="Merona® Women's Crepe Shirt Dress - Assorted Colors " src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/57/14577336_201306122101.jpg" /><br />
<br />
This dress is so much cuter on than in the picture. For some, this may be too much of a full-body print, but I personally think leopard works as a neutral. A very "spot" on neutral. Get it?<br />
<br />
I also scooped this dress up in this fun paisley. Very comfortable, flattering, and a show stopper! Do I even need to tell you these are from Tar-jay? <br />
<br />
<img alt="Merona® Women's Crepe Shirt Dress - Assorted Colors " src="http://img3.targetimg3.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/57/14577323_201306122101.jpg" /><br />
<br />
Target is killing it with the fall staples this season! I got these shells and I've already worn them several times. Again, classic patterns that can mix with red pants, denim, a pencil skirt. I recently wore the leopard shell with black shorts and flats for dinner with friends.<br />
<br />
<br />
<img alt="Merona&reg; Women's Scoop Neck Chiffon Blouse - Assorted Prints " height="320" src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/58/14587717_201306130701.jpg" width="320" /><img alt="Merona&reg; Women's Scoop Neck Chiffon Blouse - Assorted Prints " height="320" src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/58/14587676_201306130701.jpg" width="320" /><br />
<br />
I'll still be rocking my assortment of chambray shirts this fall. I have three now in three different washes. They each give a different look. Look for one that is relaxed, long enough in the tail, and looks good with cuffed sleeves. This staple will take you all the way through spring.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Long Sleeve Denim Button Down Top - Assorted Colors" src="http://img1.targetimg1.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/60/14609624_201309010357_243x243_pad.jpg" /><br />
<br />
I have quite a collection of cardigans. Okay. I lied. I have an ENORMOUS amount of cardigans. But, when you find a look that works for you, you go with it! They are so versatile and just adding a new seasonal color refreshes the old staples in your closet. A very affordable way to freshen your look!<br />
<br />
Here are the colors I've snagged for the season. Now if Atlanta would just realize it' fall...we're getting there.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Merona&reg; Women's Ultimate Crewneck Cardigan Sweater - Assorted Prints " src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/48/14487435_201306141115.jpg" /><br />
<br />
I know. I might be part cheetah. Trust I won't put all the pieces together in one outfit! It's a staple I tell you. A staple! Leopard always circles back around...<br />
<br />
<img alt="Merona® Women's Ultimate V-Neck Cardigan Sweater - Solids " height="320" src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/48/14485289_201308061312.jpg" width="320" /><img alt="Merona® Women's Ultimate V-Neck Cardigan Sweater - Solids " height="320" src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/48/14484959_201308061312.jpg" width="320" /><br />
<br />
If these colors don't say fall, I don't know what does. Love them!<br />
<br />
Now, I have tops pretty well figured out, but I've been feeling the need for some really good jeans. My friend swears by Not Your Daughter's Jeans, so a trip to Nordstrom may be in my future. Oh wait! We just had to replace the entire back end of the Mister's car. Guess I'll have to make some more sales on ebay before that happens!!<br />
<br />
<img alt="NYDJ 'Alina' Stretch Skinny Jeans (Regular & Petite)" src="http://g.nordstromimage.com/imagegallery/store/product/Medium/0/_8324080.jpg" /><br />
<br />
Later we'll talk accessories. You know I love to accessorize!<br />
<br />
What are you wearing for fall? Coming up I'll show you what Little will be wearing. Can he just stay small forever so he can keep wearing cute clothes...that I pick out???<br />

I took the summer off and I didn't even warn y'all. I didn't really plan for it, but when school ended, projects ended, blogging time ended, me time ended. Instead, my days were full of sunscreen, water guns, Popsicles, and picnics. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way!<br />
<br />
I have missed blogging and my loyal readers (even if most of them are related to me!)...The great thing about an extended break is all the new material I will have!<br />
<br />
Little is safely back into school. Pre-K. Is it weird that this year is strangely bittersweet for me? I love preschool. I love that it means he is still small and needs me. I am deathly afraid of Kindergarten. I didn't think this would be the case since I was a teacher, but he is still so little! The lunchroom, the class sizes, the loooooong day. I. Can't. Handle. It. Okay. I had to get that out. I will say, I've been making a point to enjoy our lunchtimes together, the Fridays he has off from school, and the laid back vibe that is preschool. Such a sweet time.<br />

<br />
The newest update I have for you is that I am now on Instagram. I even have some new fancy picture editing apps! It's a fun way to share a bit of the behind the scenes of Nest Your Best, the things that don't make it onto the blog. Find me @nestyourbest !! I'd love to have you come aboard!<br />

Now to foot wear! Today, I'll show you the shoes I've fallen in love with...<br />
I tend to live in flip flops from April to October around here, but I am also no stranger to heels. Very high heels. They just make me feel so girly!<br />
<br />
I already have a similar pair of these in black so I knew how useful they are. I've already worn them 3 times!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.target.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Women's Merona® Marguerite Closed Wedge Canvas Espadrille -Neutral " src="http://img2.targetimg2.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/30/14300100_121129200000.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
These are also a great neutral for all your summer shorts and dresses.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.target.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Women's Merona® Emilia Tall Wedge Espadrille - Khaki " src="http://img1.targetimg1.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/27/14277777_121128042405.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
Okay. Last pair. I promise. These are Dr. Scholl's. I know. I couldn't believe it either. It's a double bonus because they are cute and super comfy. And striped... :)<br />
<br />
<img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/416dbSQQReL.jpg" /><br />
<br />
Alright. I lied. One more pair. I don't have these...yet. But they are calling my name. How cute would these be with boyfriend shorts and a white slouchy tee? Do you get presents for Cinco de Mayo?<br />
<br />
<img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41UJl293T2L.jpg" /><br />
<br />
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. We have a baseball game, a birthday party, and a tennis match. Hopefully I'll have a few minutes to work on some projects I have planned for around here!<br />

While it's not practical to get a whole new wardrobe every season, a few new pieces can enliven what you already have. Here are some of my picks for this spring...<br />
<br />
I love fun shorts, and who doesn't love gingham?! These will go so well with a bright blue shirt, or a sunny yellow tank.<br />
<br />
<img src="http://oldnavy.gap.com/assets/common/clear.gif" /><img src="http://oldnavy.gap.com/assets/common/clear.gif" /><img src="http://oldnavy.gap.com/assets/common/clear.gif" /><a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=68348&vid=1&pid=389324022" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://www3.assets-gap.com/webcontent/0006/120/959/cn6120959.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I'm a sucker for stripes and this season is not exception. This dress will be great for a date night, or just running errands.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=91340&vid=1&pid=387521022" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://www3.assets-gap.com/webcontent/0006/139/663/cn6139663.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm really into bright blue right now, so I scooped up this dress as well. It's so comfy and looks great with wedges or flats. I may or may not have gotten it in black as well...<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=91339&vid=1&pid=387473012" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://www1.assets-gap.com/webcontent/0006/049/161/cn6049161.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
This shirt is so me. Stripes, neutrals, relaxed. Love.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=72246&vid=1&pid=387484002" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://www3.assets-gap.com/webcontent/0006/156/393/cn6156393.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
I just ordered these and I can't wait for them to get here! Perfect to throw on with a cute tee this summer.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=93971&vid=1&pid=351621002" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://www3.assets-gap.com/webcontent/0005/872/123/cn5872123.jpg" width="300" /></a><br />
<br />
To say that I love this dress is an understatement. It is so comfortable, but so versatile. I've worn it to church, to preschool, to the grocery. Must have.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.target.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Merona® Women's Rugby Shirt Dress - Stripes " src="http://img1.targetimg1.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/39/14391952_130103183000.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
This shirt is very versatile as well. It looks so much better on than in the picture. Wear it with white skinny jeans and coral sandals. Or yellow shorts. Or a mint green pencil skirt. Possibilities!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.target.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Merona® Women's Favorite Lawn Shirt - Assorted Colors " src="http://img3.targetimg3.com/wcsstore/TargetSAS//img/p/14/42/14429457_130403060018.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
That's just a quick little peek into some of the things I'll be wearing this spring. What about you? Any new finds? Are you embracing the navy, coral, bright blue, yellow, and mint?<br />
<br />
Tomorrow I'll show you how my feet will be dressed... :)<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A certain little man of mine is completely fascinated by all things money. This is probably helped by the fact that he finds a coin everywhere we go. Everywhere. If I found money the way this boy does I'd have a lot more projects to show you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When Little Man was born, he was gifted a beautiful ceramic piggy bank with the words "count your blessings". I loved this bank. It was so sweet. Little loved it as well. Loved shaking it to get the coins to fall out of the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can imagine, this method promptly led to a broken pig.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rather than replace the glass pig with another glass pig, I opted to use what I had to give the wee one a place to store his coins. Here was my criteria: shatterproof, easy to get into</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Enter the leftover jar from my "Handful of Everything" trail mix (sidenote: that stuff is delicious! Target if you want some!). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7OnDAM3QWYJ74RnHsE0FNfIt5j0q27HO8esBe58Yr229pcMWWt098CYQCXUelb4yfNdfB1RuQcaVaxQwO4PRV6890MY7Zu1hTHP0QKhu9A8R7T1lJGPt6M_WwU6cmnTrM3Ml8D69-wg/s1600/DSC05771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7OnDAM3QWYJ74RnHsE0FNfIt5j0q27HO8esBe58Yr229pcMWWt098CYQCXUelb4yfNdfB1RuQcaVaxQwO4PRV6890MY7Zu1hTHP0QKhu9A8R7T1lJGPt6M_WwU6cmnTrM3Ml8D69-wg/s640/DSC05771.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I peeled off the label from the jar (definitely the hardest part) and Little helped me pick out a piece of scrapbook paper he liked. I cut it to size and wrapped it around the jar. The adhesive leftover from the label held it on perfectly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi59tdrGwrQ-O-wHKxbhzMdPpRh8mLOuFhEdOJLbMMk2GJCbmGrkUUMmBAJVuLSJaYMRPc4mnmnxzmgGOmvNnp1idSBgv8ykfZJG8ycOJD_lE2cUDj99fJOI_DwTvHKzr7xVNNpxaOsyQ/s1600/DSC05770.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi59tdrGwrQ-O-wHKxbhzMdPpRh8mLOuFhEdOJLbMMk2GJCbmGrkUUMmBAJVuLSJaYMRPc4mnmnxzmgGOmvNnp1idSBgv8ykfZJG8ycOJD_lE2cUDj99fJOI_DwTvHKzr7xVNNpxaOsyQ/s640/DSC05770.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, I created a quick label on an Avery template and popped them on the jar.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Little added his coins, and our homemade piggy bank was ready!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcyVhqH3PdALMM0-ImAGcuPv8i2xP9Gh_qua83LEhuVPajHPiDbNOHxBh0BcscLAEY1fzaV8lMjxTmmFDFSqky4nyk77ASJYTreLETBKAIgAdfJDQoXWDg2aju-1v_-7b_80nu2C6Gg/s1600/DSC05772.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcyVhqH3PdALMM0-ImAGcuPv8i2xP9Gh_qua83LEhuVPajHPiDbNOHxBh0BcscLAEY1fzaV8lMjxTmmFDFSqky4nyk77ASJYTreLETBKAIgAdfJDQoXWDg2aju-1v_-7b_80nu2C6Gg/s640/DSC05772.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now he can screw and unscrew the top as much as his little heart desires.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6pdfx-u1vuN81BCeFes1fpEE1Qfib0-ZclPhJVSqNrz4GH26u2kD-s-7vx2me75aCFNqZ_jeRd4KD3GSexZhXkc_rauJfcoKqxj2jdf51nBc519yK98NG2n-e05HK2VfQ1dnslZuzzw/s1600/DSC05774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6pdfx-u1vuN81BCeFes1fpEE1Qfib0-ZclPhJVSqNrz4GH26u2kD-s-7vx2me75aCFNqZ_jeRd4KD3GSexZhXkc_rauJfcoKqxj2jdf51nBc519yK98NG2n-e05HK2VfQ1dnslZuzzw/s320/DSC05774.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I do realize that this is not a long term solution. The paper will start to curl up and may suffer some wear, but for a free option for a 4 year old, I'm happy. Maybe when he's 5 he can be trusted with the glass dinosaur piggy bank he's fallen in love with...<br />

I've taken an extended hiatus from Nest and am so glad to be back. Between vacations, birthday parties, house guests, and a stomach bug there hasn't been a single moment to blog. I'm finally feeling some what caught up. The bathrooms have been detoxed, laundry done, bills paid. There's food in the refrigerator. All is well.<br />
<br />
Except, all doesn't feel well to some of our brothers and sisters in Boston. Although I was not there, I have a sister-in-law who is a marathon runner and a few friends who were running this year. Gratefully, they are all well.<br />
<br />
<img src="http://assets.bizjournals.com/lib/img/cityGuidePics/boston/boston1.jpg" /><br />
<br />
At times like this, it is easy to feel like there is no good in the world. How could there be when such violence occurs? Looking at the news reports, it was amazing to see the good that was expressed in those moments following the blasts. People running <i>toward</i> the explosion to help. <br />
<br />
On days like yesterday, and today, and forever more, we need to recognize that the good far outnumbers the bad. And it always will.<br />
<br />
Keep the good alive. Tell someone you love them today.<br />
<br />
As you may have picked up from my first paragraph, I've been feeling a wee bit overwhelmed the past month. In some calm moments of prayer, it has come to me to work on expressing 4 things everyday. That may seem like a lot, but they really dovetail with each other.<br />
<br />
Patience, meekness, love, and good deeds. <br />
<br />
If you look up these words, you see that meekness is a form of patience. Love requires meekness. And you can't do good deeds without love.<br />
<br />
<img src="http://inspirably.com/uploads/user/101-good-people-bring-out-the-good-in-other-people_380x280_width.png" /><br />
<br />
Be the good you want to see.<br />

After a big birthday party and a trip to Disney, I kept the table as low-key as possible.<br />
<br />
I pulled out my swag of burlap again to be the runner. I wonder if I'll ever tire of this thing?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWlji71NlzPzMBeCAwnEzes9-rEHqnC5qMGp0r6Gmcv4d98xMXEV36mb-aa3toN0vCgs4tJU7P2W9IagDp1cIXKm8q75MsjQnXpFplFctU92B0Pz7yhFc1_1a7Sh3Ig5Rz93a0SJoGmg/s1600/DSC05729.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWlji71NlzPzMBeCAwnEzes9-rEHqnC5qMGp0r6Gmcv4d98xMXEV36mb-aa3toN0vCgs4tJU7P2W9IagDp1cIXKm8q75MsjQnXpFplFctU92B0Pz7yhFc1_1a7Sh3Ig5Rz93a0SJoGmg/s640/DSC05729.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then, I added a white pitcher from my collection, popped in some botanicals from Target, plunked my cute Target bunnies down and scattered my Kroger eggs about.<br />

There is nothing like Disney World with a 4 year-old. He loved it, we loved it. We all need a vacation to recover.<br />
<br />
While I let the laundry sit and the grocery shopping go undone, I'll share with you the Easter mantle I put together, because folks, it's this weekend. Say what?! So. Not. Ready.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgObxFpdvD_RzLeRUDKiKwzztmX5IDeIpNNgLoiIh_kk9I_KfTwx8b03SQGWXEMvf8lEuYFM2EMUBMKflW-COYH9JMDZgSyRQun7oPGwn264LhwLgNaYcYfJep8GECkvly2TWEyjz2PmQ/s1600/DSC05735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgObxFpdvD_RzLeRUDKiKwzztmX5IDeIpNNgLoiIh_kk9I_KfTwx8b03SQGWXEMvf8lEuYFM2EMUBMKflW-COYH9JMDZgSyRQun7oPGwn264LhwLgNaYcYfJep8GECkvly2TWEyjz2PmQ/s640/DSC05735.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I kept it very simple this year by using things I already had, along with a wreath and eggs I stumbled upon at Kroger.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiv07O2ol5dIy85LemXquoeBHYp3b0GFmQ9piuFxlkAsjyn3l3acPnafqKh2qA0NYo2KyxQHFlWOQEa13BXJCL2na3mo6adDFYvsRJCdJjYu0KY98CB0wnZs8tASNng7Y8_8QUkQup3w/s1600/DSC05737.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiv07O2ol5dIy85LemXquoeBHYp3b0GFmQ9piuFxlkAsjyn3l3acPnafqKh2qA0NYo2KyxQHFlWOQEa13BXJCL2na3mo6adDFYvsRJCdJjYu0KY98CB0wnZs8tASNng7Y8_8QUkQup3w/s640/DSC05737.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The wooden bunny is from Marshalls and the wire basket is from the Target $1 spot. I think it was $3 though...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgozjTH8y3yc0Y2vlV73VwZmJ2sw-2aH-tIpVImaY_fvmwXVUblAFKgmPT9OGwp5O-X_RZ6BS0bAcOmZpDb99IG0kO23oD3qiTxcpKyXGHCBmeDkhNIvuy-QWQlwwvkhyPyS0I8FxsqrA/s1600/DSC05736.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgozjTH8y3yc0Y2vlV73VwZmJ2sw-2aH-tIpVImaY_fvmwXVUblAFKgmPT9OGwp5O-X_RZ6BS0bAcOmZpDb99IG0kO23oD3qiTxcpKyXGHCBmeDkhNIvuy-QWQlwwvkhyPyS0I8FxsqrA/s640/DSC05736.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The mercury glass candlesticks from Pottery Barn are still going strong. I love a purchase that keeps on giving!<br />

You're an amazing artist. You love to cut and glue and use markers till your hands are multi-colored. I wonder where that comes from? I can't wait to see what you do with all of your talents.<br />

<br />
We really thought you'd have a sibling by now, but you know what? God's given us a little extra time with just you, and how special this time has been. We've been to movies together. Sampled cake pops, walked on the beach, flown in an airplane, gone to the zoo, picked apples, and pumpkins, and flowers. Watched you experience your first day of school and hit your first baseball, and eat a lemon all the way to the peel. Yuck! We wouldn't trade this time for anything.<br />
<br />
And if our little family stays only three, you, my love, are enough. More than enough. Just right.<br />
<br />
Little, we love you so much! Although I end every day exhausted, I also end every day happy God gave me the opportunity to be your mom. Keep asking questions, keep growing, keep exploring, keep drawing, and never let anyone or anything hide your light. <br />
<br />
Love,<br />

There were a lot of parts! It would have shut my blog down if I'd put it all in one post...hope you don't mind! :)<br />
<br />
I told you yesterday I love to set the table first for any party or holiday event. Second, the mantle. These are just the natural places I go to add a touch of whatever festivity we have happening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a Target garland to start and then shopped my house for the rest.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The wicker vase is from Big Lots and I filled it with curls of the same wrapping paper I used to run the dining table (you can see that post yesterday).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The dino is a DIY attempt out of poster board and markers. I think he turned out okay!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had the graphic already and I think it was from Pinterest. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Mister's aunt gave us the cute dino cookie cutters. After I baked all the cookies, I used the cutters to spice up the mantle. I love the extra texture they add.</div>

I hope you've enjoyed the dino series. I am officially dinosaured out. It was a blast and it sure made Little happy and that's the whole point!<br />

Then...the table! I love to set the table first because it sets the tone for the rest of the party and usually takes me in a direction I hadn't anticipated going.<br />
<br />
I thought it would be fun to seat the kiddos in the dining room for Little's 4th Birthday party. They thought it was pretty cool to be at the big table while the mom's ate in the kitchen.<br />
<br />
I started by using a roll of wrapping paper from the Target $1 spot for the runner. I also used some of this paper for the juice box covers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBZcGN3HaIFZbWzIf75v0yBPzgXMokka55HVxOq2GiSeztoh4AtVYYmvy3Gul2qoNxLB7CUYCRVmIPY4WsI9_p26ys-sHfNpF5bwwnwpQeA7VDaL39u6m-G5m6eIUwJQjs4idOj0xcA/s1600/DSC05648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKBZcGN3HaIFZbWzIf75v0yBPzgXMokka55HVxOq2GiSeztoh4AtVYYmvy3Gul2qoNxLB7CUYCRVmIPY4WsI9_p26ys-sHfNpF5bwwnwpQeA7VDaL39u6m-G5m6eIUwJQjs4idOj0xcA/s640/DSC05648.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I used two of Little's favorite toy dinos as a focal point, some flowers and a birthday balloon. Because how can you not have a Happy Birthday balloon at a child's birthday party?!<br />
<br />
Last spring I DIY some chalkboard chargers. These were the perfect place to give our guests their very own dinosaur name.<br />
<br />

I topped each charger with a yellow paper plate, a red dinner napkin, and some very cute blue and white rugby striped appetizer napkins. The plastic dinos were another favor the kids could take home. They came from the Target $1 spot. Got to love that place!</div>

The whole table probably cost me $15, with the cost of all the dinosaurs and the flowers. Not bad for a very cute, very festive table!</div>

<br />
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great weekend. We were running all over with baseball, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Did I tell you my Little Man was awarded the game ball after his very first game?! So proud!<br />
<br />
<img height="400" src="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/208542_10200972407577129_2083661808_n.jpg" width="298" /><br />
<br />
Last week I revealed the Dinosaur Party we had for my son's 4th birthday. Wow. Four.<br />

<br />
Today I'm sharing the decor. It was pretty easy and very DIY. I started with some clearance Target party pennant banners.<br />
<br />
I have three so I used them in the entryway...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCbALBQTrkJkz84tFIm7G8E6P2-HT9avXicsOnAmxYHTjk9SPxaulxlymvVXmNRUE3D8W-iqP84j8wjYjtkr85lozpg4JoOZm4eL6dr2muaDIEMbe69GNc2qchUgTUFOHpOtnUZobtyg/s1600/DSC05623.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCbALBQTrkJkz84tFIm7G8E6P2-HT9avXicsOnAmxYHTjk9SPxaulxlymvVXmNRUE3D8W-iqP84j8wjYjtkr85lozpg4JoOZm4eL6dr2muaDIEMbe69GNc2qchUgTUFOHpOtnUZobtyg/s640/DSC05623.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>

In the dining room...<br />

<br />
On a whim, I decided it would be fun to make giant dinosaurs. I bought big white poster boards and drew a T-Rex, Triceratops, and Brontosaurus on them.<br />
<br />
To tie them in with the fun patterns on the pennants, I rugby striped and polka dotted them in coordinating colors. I was pretty happy with how they turned out!<br />

<br />
Once the dinos were up, I felt they needed to a little something. Actually, I felt they needed to be saying something, so I used some leftover poster board and made three quote bubbles. Then, I spray painted each bubble with chalkboard paint.<br />

<br />
They were very easy, and made a great impact. And, they're reusable!<br />
<br />
Of course, I had to pull out my <a href="http://nestyourbest.blogspot.com/2012/03/a-birthday-wreath.html" target="_blank">balloon wreath</a> again.<br />
<br />

I just changed the circle label to say "Happy Fourth Birthday".<br />
<br />
Fresh flowers are always a must for any party. I got mine at Kroger and split them up to make 2 bouquets. I had the vases already.<br />

Little absolutely LOVES balloons. Actually, I've never heard of anyone who loves them more than he does. So, naturally we had out own balloon tank and blew up a ton of balloons.<br />
<br />
We also took a trip to the store where he got to pick out his own Dino balloon. Very exciting.<br />

Tomorrow, I'll break down the birthday tablescape I put together, as well as the birthday mantle.<br />
<br />
See you then!<br />

If you've missed any of those posts, check out the cookie favors here and the party menu here.<br />
<br />
Today, I'll be showing you what I came up with in a moment of desperation for the cupcakes. You know you can't have a child's birthday party without cupcakes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowRoVZEIxo3PBrW-9NUtz5rwswvjBH7KAOAxs1kwcyfPiBDkjwc8ThM7KxzLeU-_Qbdo75qr6a20gnPkAyxopNIH4gzxYzroMfnSBO5TCGtgIABlbsTYqAxS-nuDiKtlIffDor9cjIg/s1600/DSC05601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowRoVZEIxo3PBrW-9NUtz5rwswvjBH7KAOAxs1kwcyfPiBDkjwc8ThM7KxzLeU-_Qbdo75qr6a20gnPkAyxopNIH4gzxYzroMfnSBO5TCGtgIABlbsTYqAxS-nuDiKtlIffDor9cjIg/s640/DSC05601.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
My first thought was just to make regular cupcakes and pop a little plastic dino on top, but I knew I could do better. Hmmm... It was actual Little who gave me the idea. "Volcanos Mommy!" Why son, I think you're on to something.<br />
<br />
I found a recipe for lava cakes filled with melty chocolate, however, this is not what I needed with a bunch fo preschoolers! I just made chocolate cake and bakes it in a mini bundt pan. The little bundt cakes resembled volcanos enough...<br />
<br />
<img height="259" src="http://img3.etsystatic.com/000/0/5914927/il_fullxfull.224312403.jpg" width="320" /><br />
<br />
The tricky part was getting the lava. The lava cake recipe provided a recipe for a glaze, which I tinted with orange food coloring. However, when I tried it out, it was not nearly opaque enough to look like anything. This mistake worked out though, because the glaze sunk into the cake and made them extra moist and flavorful. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">* Disclaimer: I absolutely HATE the word "moist", however, since it is in written form here, I'm writing it and moving on.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
I wound up adding some powdered sugar, a bit of corn syrup and a little more orange coloring. The result, a volcano cupcake fit for an almost 4 year-old.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll try and tell you my icing recipe below. You may have to play with it a bit. (I doubled this)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter, 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/8 cup of milk in a sauce pan. Let it come to a boil and then remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of white chocolate chips till melted. Pour over cakes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the part that sank into the cake, but it worked out and made them delicious! Save some icing back and then do this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Add in about 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 Tablespoon of corn syrup. I also added orange food coloring. Stir together and drizzle over cakes. Sprinkle red sprinkles on top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope this works out for you if you try it. Remember, I was in desperation mode! If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar. You can't really mess it up. It will taste delicious!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a great weekend friends! Next week I have a few more party things to share, as well as my Easter mantle and tablescape. It will be here before you know it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

If you've been reading the blog, you know we recently had a Dino Party for my son's 4th birthday. Yesterday, I shared the cookie favors we put together. Today, I'm showing you what we ate.<br />
<br />
When I started planning this party, of course, I went to Pinterest first. There was lots of dino stuff, but it all referred back to Etsy sites where you could buy dino cookies, juice box wrappers, banners, etc. I have nothing against Etsy, I just wanted to make it myself to save a little green!<br />
<br />
I made these little labels to hang above the food stations in my kitchen. I just used the Drawing Board feature in Word to create these labels.<br />
<br />
At the "Carnivores" station we had dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets for the kiddos and a hot cider salad with bacon and mini honey cornbread muffins for the mamas.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of all the food because at that point, we were in full party mode!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt8yRf6VDty0z51tK2UINw6u9aDjW_Yuaq8A7u-lAsUoiXyxoAhgmiCiEVYR2CMiuDc8L0Aa03b9yaX9VVcsXDm1KMyL3ZqATT9m-lI4da0EfKStVXHrsbg10eWG3MkdpGduHc4wXjxg/s1600/DSC05583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt8yRf6VDty0z51tK2UINw6u9aDjW_Yuaq8A7u-lAsUoiXyxoAhgmiCiEVYR2CMiuDc8L0Aa03b9yaX9VVcsXDm1KMyL3ZqATT9m-lI4da0EfKStVXHrsbg10eWG3MkdpGduHc4wXjxg/s640/DSC05583.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
The "Herbivores" station had broccoli and carrots with ranch, strawberries and grapes, and popcorn.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmCfURaX3vlIvJ7u-0CzXMxWBy1A8RnmQXQ9ueR-LtazHoudjDgJlquoNiW80QcD6N4lR1TEWZS7ECKA88GyYwv5Blf-6xxKprM685M3mhorJXodYJjy9gUtB5yVjncpmOEdNA_ZaZcQ/s1600/DSC05586.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmCfURaX3vlIvJ7u-0CzXMxWBy1A8RnmQXQ9ueR-LtazHoudjDgJlquoNiW80QcD6N4lR1TEWZS7ECKA88GyYwv5Blf-6xxKprM685M3mhorJXodYJjy9gUtB5yVjncpmOEdNA_ZaZcQ/s640/DSC05586.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
"Sweetivores", my favorite station, had cupcakes (check back tomorrow to hear more about the cupcakes) and cookies.<br />

<br />
To cover the juice boxes I used yellow scrapbook paper and red and white chevron wrapping paper from the Target $1 section. I scoop up those rolls whenever there are new ones!<br />
<br />
I think part of what makes a memorable party are the little details. If you've committed to a theme, try to keep it running throughout the party...of course, you don't want to go overboard, but a few little touches can easily take some Target party plates and chicken nuggets from drab to fab.<br />

We had the big Dinosaur Blow-out last weekend and it was a huge success! I was a little crazy to schedule two parties in one day, just two days after getting back from vacation, but a couple of sleepless nights and we were in business!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love a themed party and when Little suggested Dinos, I jumped right in. It was meant to be when Mister's aunt gave us some dino cookie cutters. I knew what the favors would be!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I spent one day making the sugar cookies and glazing them with royal icing. I would suggest looking on Pinterest for a good royal icing recipe. It's the stuff that dries hard enough to stack and decorate, but still delicious.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next day was decorating and packaging day. I found some great food colors from Wilton to use. We went with turquoise, red, and orange.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I used a food writer to add the "J" and "4" accents. Have you tried them yet? They are really amazing. You just have to make sure your base icing is really set or it will crack.</div>

<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2993648798896068112.post-43198045862641895682013-03-12T00:00:00.000-07:002013-03-12T00:00:07.690-07:00Hair Today...Well. I treated myself to a much needed, much overdue day of beauty and overall self maintenance. That should be an official holiday. "Beauty and Overall Self-Maintenance Day". Every woman would have the day off work (in an office or at home, you know it's work!) and all the salons would be full...I can picture it.<br />
<br />
Anywho, it was time. I started with a haircut and ended my morning with a mani/pedi. It was such a treat!<br />
<br />
You're probably wondering from the title of this post what happened to my hair. I went in for a little more shape. A snipping of some split ends. A break from washing my own hair (truly, my favorite part).<br />
<br />
I ended up with a little more (or less) than I bargained for...but, I actually LOVE it! I needed a change. I was beginning to feel old and frumpy. While I intellectually know I am neither of those things, sometimes a girl just needs a fresh look!<br />
<br />
Here are a few "Befores"...<br />
<br />
This is my hair from our holiday photos. Long, curling iron.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ONIOHl946pX4QEfDyeUXLoKtjM0jRNIVSM8RdK7tb2Dnl8-3cPgoIJdpLBJQvJqT65C4IEV1y4pqWrEX5WcW3YiDeAyS4q-rUdPg7hzQdZKAoh8VvF1MJMIOVsvDE3rbKzakiecuaQ/s1600/DSC04371.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ONIOHl946pX4QEfDyeUXLoKtjM0jRNIVSM8RdK7tb2Dnl8-3cPgoIJdpLBJQvJqT65C4IEV1y4pqWrEX5WcW3YiDeAyS4q-rUdPg7hzQdZKAoh8VvF1MJMIOVsvDE3rbKzakiecuaQ/s640/DSC04371.JPG" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here I am with my little buddy. Long, some second day waves. Pulled back on the sides. Pretty typical.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBUMlUqCu1EuQ-zALlGAvvL7BlwMrv6bzXXt_tY36ZhRc9GiECnktFcC14FT4MSAa2r4Od-z2S9DE-ijNej9Yybp84pl9KSDDfSA2EpDZc3gvsWvKe68snAMXtJfbQEVwDAE13wEk-vQ/s1600/DSC03637.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBUMlUqCu1EuQ-zALlGAvvL7BlwMrv6bzXXt_tY36ZhRc9GiECnktFcC14FT4MSAa2r4Od-z2S9DE-ijNej9Yybp84pl9KSDDfSA2EpDZc3gvsWvKe68snAMXtJfbQEVwDAE13wEk-vQ/s640/DSC03637.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is also pretty typical. Growing out the bangs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnOQxiQuiin_gPWS0dS2N-ct3qmUMPD63uHgeRoxWkCjP-Ue3gGz9qrnwW_h3pZ4i3E_08MGnRXIb-f-guNZ_3anz-XmpshOYbbUk3_fMsUk9DgnN1x188NlczjaN0FG0xrJdTVtnfqQ/s1600/DSC02406.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnOQxiQuiin_gPWS0dS2N-ct3qmUMPD63uHgeRoxWkCjP-Ue3gGz9qrnwW_h3pZ4i3E_08MGnRXIb-f-guNZ_3anz-XmpshOYbbUk3_fMsUk9DgnN1x188NlczjaN0FG0xrJdTVtnfqQ/s640/DSC02406.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Speaking of bangs...<br />
<br />
In 2011 I had a brief period of Zooey Deschanel bangs. They were fun. I felt glamorous, but then they became a burden. I also always felt like I had to wear my hair up so my face wasn't completely covered. <br />
<br />
That's my sis. Yes, we're on Dumbo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitWsgNkDTMsmP9VQxQemTVdbg25OAhLxZx1etK4qurbSp6y2SM-NZzoLtXnzqtbwYCfVjqR6yxMVzitdQiD0XaeOJ4HI-uq4cl8J2CTZbmEkjXvrXxrLQ-QyCOlLMYlJ5KekEe5_6XjA/s1600/DSCF2297.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitWsgNkDTMsmP9VQxQemTVdbg25OAhLxZx1etK4qurbSp6y2SM-NZzoLtXnzqtbwYCfVjqR6yxMVzitdQiD0XaeOJ4HI-uq4cl8J2CTZbmEkjXvrXxrLQ-QyCOlLMYlJ5KekEe5_6XjA/s640/DSCF2297.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's another oldie...<br />
<br />
This is when the bangs were growing out. I think it was our anniversary.<br />

Now were reaching way back into the archives! My little man was just barely one. Man, our master bedroom was still red, black, and white!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVq5CLNkN950iegmm5BKKbqKfhIol0mpMCV4iAprrN-gd-Pl3O_F-RoaGt0T9HkxHbaUM0TXPScRdsF5PXQFlurmYvPKC1Mrr_ZObxjdLi9N82tRIJtprxep0d6jz3Otlmlthh8D6Fuw/s1600/DSCF1335.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVq5CLNkN950iegmm5BKKbqKfhIol0mpMCV4iAprrN-gd-Pl3O_F-RoaGt0T9HkxHbaUM0TXPScRdsF5PXQFlurmYvPKC1Mrr_ZObxjdLi9N82tRIJtprxep0d6jz3Otlmlthh8D6Fuw/s640/DSCF1335.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I also had a moment with blonde highlights...<br />
<br />
This is from the trip Mister and I took for our first anniversary.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Yikes! This is just to show you my mid-length hair. Pay no attention to the rest!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I think it's safe to say that my hair and my camera skills have gotten better over the past few years.<br />
<br />
And now, with no further ado, my new do...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_596799956"></span><span id="goog_596799957"></span><br /></div>

<br />
I'm liking the easiness. It is definitely an adjustment, as I consider myself a long hair person, but I needed a change and this does it!<br />
<br />
Anyone else contemplating a new look for spring?<br />
<br />
I've got some birthday party posts coming up. We had a roarin' good time!<br />

And I have A LOT to share with you! Today, I'll give you the big reveal from the playroom art boards we've been working on.<br />
<br />
Remember how I've been working on a new art display board for the playroom? I showed you how I beat up some wood to distress it <a href="http://nestyourbest.blogspot.com/2013/02/art-boards-part-1-distressing.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
The next thing I did was hot glue clothespins onto the wood. I took a piece of my son't art to space out the clips evenly along the wood.<br />
<br />
After letting the clips dry, the next step was to stain the whole thing. I chose Minwax classic gray. <br />
<br />
<img src="http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/pi/mp/17086/6465606507p?src=http%3A%2F%2Fcontent.mydoitbest.com%2FImageRequest.aspx%3Fsku%3D770322%26size%3D2%26warehouse%3DC%26newsize%3D600&d=63b6d3bb933b76a286a5658fc423b4cc00e9c10e" /><br />
<br />
I originally thought I'd go with espresso, but when I added the chalkboard, I knew I needed to match the gray frame.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz_QzLFr5otUHnMi71QrJB8CAf-mfNPiOU8FIIHb_lgA3gWTEkkYmQMUeW00dgWM2Jl90zwy0_cm874hPSS2KUzj1eKkkXlb6bVb3U-GPq9LLipy_qDyg46zYJoahFucrUxog0Ow5Ktg/s1600/DSC05255.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz_QzLFr5otUHnMi71QrJB8CAf-mfNPiOU8FIIHb_lgA3gWTEkkYmQMUeW00dgWM2Jl90zwy0_cm874hPSS2KUzj1eKkkXlb6bVb3U-GPq9LLipy_qDyg46zYJoahFucrUxog0Ow5Ktg/s640/DSC05255.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I added one coat of the stain and let it dry in the garage for several days. I did not sand or prime the wood. Remember, I was going for rustic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It didn't have quite the same brown/gray feel I wanted yet, so I used a rag and some Old English to enrich the color.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<img src="http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/wysiwyg/image/Old%20English%20dark.jpg" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I didn't take pictures of this process because my hands were a mess for the staining and the Old English. Just follow the directions on the can of stain and the Old English.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
After Mister helped me hang it (in studs <i>of course</i>), here's what we had.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Not. Too. Shabby. Well, rustic shabby.</div>

I've missed you all so! We've been away for a quick little beach visit and time with family. Now, I'm gearing up for the big, birthday bash for a certain little person...Tomorrow's party day!<br />
<br />
Rest assured, I will have TONS to post. Heaps! Oodles! <br />
<br />
Bare with me as I readjust to real life and ice a gajillion dinosaur shaped cookies...<br />
<br />
Just a quick shot (by my sis in law) from our trip. Sigh.<br />

Unless you haven't thumbed through a shelter mag recently, you're aware of the distressed trend happening in all things home related. We are all after that chic, but lived in feel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I venture into our playroom project, the item at the top of my list was to create an organized space to display my son's artwork. Let's face it. A fridge can only handle so much.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pinterest helped me out with the idea of adding clothespins (man have I been using these a lot lately!) to 1 X 4's and hanging artwork from the clips. Easy. One of my gal pals has this set-up in her playroom and it was neat and orderly, but still showed off her kiddos handiwork. Sold.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started my picking out to 1 X 4 pieces of lumbar at Home Depot. I painstakingly looked through board after board to find the smoothest, cleanest looking pieces I could find. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3_3LA9GNuKf7x8ECnbfFs-uxq1bO-ooLwHx1apZEvtEmPeJCM0zukEhUwlQpVIHb8qiKUBtc84C7zaaqFmZe0RZ1XEZef8wTmhVIxDyxm6ef0-YLeMFaIayppcq5sm5dnoXOM2Cjd4A/s1600/DSC05219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3_3LA9GNuKf7x8ECnbfFs-uxq1bO-ooLwHx1apZEvtEmPeJCM0zukEhUwlQpVIHb8qiKUBtc84C7zaaqFmZe0RZ1XEZef8wTmhVIxDyxm6ef0-YLeMFaIayppcq5sm5dnoXOM2Cjd4A/s640/DSC05219.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I got home and decided to beat the snot out of them.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This wasn't the path I had intended to take, but when inspiration hits, you run with it.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Little and I took these boards out to the driveway and while he climbed trees and played on his scooter, Mommy worked out her aggression with a hammer.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3m93-BImxQjYXWN1Ko0TCkY-IL-e_TK2N7pLhQoUYsPxNOJReaeQB1HHW3E1d77rVTa1r34LaGy3qmWIMZW1cBvKCV0oRHl6eXSuVWf3L6n6spOTML9YS8cI4nSViL1Gghsb7NNOxw/s1600/DSC05220.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH3m93-BImxQjYXWN1Ko0TCkY-IL-e_TK2N7pLhQoUYsPxNOJReaeQB1HHW3E1d77rVTa1r34LaGy3qmWIMZW1cBvKCV0oRHl6eXSuVWf3L6n6spOTML9YS8cI4nSViL1Gghsb7NNOxw/s640/DSC05220.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
The process of distressing is really quite simple. And therapeutic. Get a hammer and a nail or two and pound away. Take some chunks out of the wood. Don't be afraid!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoCYbaxVqFi6B8TT_k2WJ5IXVmykAR9pnvfdqfGDrfBiFfXyvJuLca5WIc2Y4Uu23JW-Mgrmj2JkVO909g312zY0Dfb2AfY6GEqcyxh6m-S-KuCOelOvbLhZbB3mQo5uR2UJKuRC0t4w/s1600/DSC05222.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoCYbaxVqFi6B8TT_k2WJ5IXVmykAR9pnvfdqfGDrfBiFfXyvJuLca5WIc2Y4Uu23JW-Mgrmj2JkVO909g312zY0Dfb2AfY6GEqcyxh6m-S-KuCOelOvbLhZbB3mQo5uR2UJKuRC0t4w/s640/DSC05222.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I even flipped the hammer over and pulled the claw along the wood to make some deeper gashes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwK8M0mIS-tRe-KuU8ClioR90DBwGkH5XcRFiHONVAyZqeL3h58dbxtL_0v5wS9Gzbb9UcRBFofh2rlbg4ymrgz-QUVM1pwLQmMASF-Lg45bfR7dDeuGjUiT8hrMgLC8iI1SEIoxHL9A/s1600/DSC05223.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwK8M0mIS-tRe-KuU8ClioR90DBwGkH5XcRFiHONVAyZqeL3h58dbxtL_0v5wS9Gzbb9UcRBFofh2rlbg4ymrgz-QUVM1pwLQmMASF-Lg45bfR7dDeuGjUiT8hrMgLC8iI1SEIoxHL9A/s640/DSC05223.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm sure my neighbors thought I had finally lost it, but after 15 minutes, I had some pretty distressed looking wood. Or pretty, distressed looking wood, depending on how you want to view it.<br />
<br />
Then, I propped the wood up in the garage and awaited a warm enough day to tackle the staining step. Is it spring yet? (That post it to come later this week.) <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Welcome back! It's Monday again, but that's okay, because that means we're getting closer to spring days with more daylight!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm popping in today to share another (yes, another) project that added itself to my list. Uh-huh. It added itself. I didn't plan on redoing the playroom, but then this chalkboard found it's way in, and well, now everything else has to change. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Remember when I told you about making over the <a href="http://nestyourbest.blogspot.com/2013/01/office-idea-board.html" target="_blank">pegboard </a>from the playroom? And once I made it over it was way more fitting in the office, rather than the playroom? So I swapped the pegboard for the chalkboard?<br />
<br />

<br />
Well, once that happened I loved it. I love how the rustic, weathered frame connects the feel of the rest of the first floor living space to the playroom. However, now the very boy-like, very vibrant playroom is majorly clashing.<br />

Yikes! My eyes are hurting! Never you fear. This girl always has a pen and paper handy for a fresh new list. Shall we?</div>

This weekend I laid on the floor as my son repeatedly "climbed the rock", which consisted of him crawling up my bent legs and body slamming me. In between blows, I dreamed up a space that is totally kid friendly, corrals all the necessary trucks and dinos, but also yields a fun space for my crafting. This space has to also tie in with the rest of the house, which means, you guessed it...new colors. Sensing a theme around here?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I wish y'all could crawl in my head and see it...it's so pretty. Sigh.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It'll take some time and some muscle, but I'm excited to chip away. Don't worry. My other projects are still active as well...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Tomorrow I'll be sharing some very "distressing" news. Nothing serious! Just how I distressed some 1 X 4's to get that artwork display started.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
See you then!</div>
